PACE President, Sandra Whiting, Keynote Speaker at JCA’s IWD

IWD-SandraOn Sunday March 12th, 2017, the Jamaican Canadian Association Women’s Committee held their 17th year of International Women’s Day Celebration, “Women JCA's IWD Recognizing Women”. This year’s theme was Be Bold for Change!
The evening’s Keynote speaker Sandra Whiting talked about communicating our core values, as those values makes us who we are. “We need to know each other’s stories, to tell our stories. Stories teach us who we are and about our shared purpose”. She encouraged women to remind themselves to celebrate achievements, despite feelings of despair. “We are survivors, wake up, sit up, stand up, speak-up and big up yourself. Be Bold for all sisters, including our Muslim sisters. Speak positive, break habits and be inspired”.
JCA President Adaoma Patterson adds “let’s collectively be bold for change so that the world can be an inclusive, progressive and equitable place for all of us”. The MC of the evening was Cheryl Lewis-Thurab who did a super job.
The JCA had the pleasure of having in attendance the support of Jean Augustine PC CM CBE, and Ms. Aliecia Taylor, Consul, Jamaican Consulate General in Toronto.
