Passed away May 26, 2018, in her sleep after a long illness.

Beloved sister of Dorothy, Celia (the late Deryk), the late Michael (Yvonne), Paula (the late Paul), and Peter (Yvonne). Loving mother of Leiane and her husband Sean. Grandmother of Regan, godmother of Mischka and Nicole, and aunt and great-aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, Joan came to Canada to study nursing at St. Michael’s in Toronto, ultimately finishing her career as a case manager for Surrey Place Centre.

The family extends thanks to Dr. Chase McMurren and the team at Taddle Creek Family Health, caregivers Alma and Jelaine and the team at the O’Neill Centre long-term care residence.

The family will receive friends at the Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home, 211 Langstaff Road East (west of Bayview Ave.) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 31. At 1:30 p.m., following the visitation, there will be a mass in the funeral home’s Chapel of St. Joseph. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
