President’s Message Summer 2019

PACE Canada – President’s Message – Spring 2019

It is truly an honour to once again be elected as the President of this very worthwhile organization that is “Helping Young Children Succeed” in Jamaica and here in Canada.

First I would like to thank Past President Sandra Whiting for the many outstanding activities that she successfully undertook during her term.  These include finally having an office for P.A.C.E. through a partnership with Jamaica National Bank and ensuring the organizations financial records are accurate and reliable.

The Strawberry Social arranged by Sandra in June was also a big success.  We were pleased to have many of the original PACE directors, patrons and members attend, including our founder Dr. Mavis Burke.  My message at the event was to encourage these members and all our supporters to engage their family and friends in support of P.A.C.E. as we need to reach out to the next generations.

We have a very capable and accomplished Executive and Board of Directors with a few new members on the team. Our first task will be to host a Strategic Planning session on September 8,2019 along with our Patrons to establish the plans and goals for the coming two years.  We will review challenges in areas such as schools in Jamaica cashing the P.A.C.E. cheques, and how to increase attendance at local PACE events.

We value all your input too so please email any suggestions to me or give me a call.

P.A.C.E. Canada is now in it’s 32nd year but we still have work to do to support the children at over 2600 kindergarten schools in Jamaica in keeping with our goals of “Helping Young Children Succeed”.
