Strawberry Social 2019

 In Events, Fundraising

Another successful Strawberry Social was held on June 2nd at the Delta Hotel in Scarborough. We said a big “Thank You” to Committee Chair, Sandra Whiting for helping to organize her last Social. She has also stepped down as President of PACE, after serving the organization for many years.

In keeping with the theme of “Inspired Flower Creations”, we invited award winning author and gardener, Cynthia Reyes, to be the keynote speaker. Her first book, A Good Home, was a bestseller and was followed by a chronicle of her life after an accident, An Honest House, which won The Diamond Award for book of the year.

Congratulations go out to Grace Hitchins and Mark Fullerton, recipients of the PACESetter awards for their contribution to the organization and community.

During lunch we were treated to the music of saxophonist Skel. Later in the afternoon Sonia and Hewitt Loague thrilled the guests with a beautiful and romantic dance. That was followed by an audience participation dance led by Kevin Ormsby who showed us some old-time dance moves.

Thanks again to everyone who attended and participated in our auction and flower purchases; our organizing committee; vendors; and DJ Eugene of Psycho Soul. This annual event helps to raise funds for Early Childhood Schools in Jamaica and Canada.
