Dear members and friends,
Jamaica is facing unprecedented challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic similar to other countries globally. This impact is being felt by the over 1,800 kindergarten schools in all Parishes across the country as they prepare to reopen in September following the government guidelines to operate, and to ensure the safety and security of the children, teachers and staff.
Our members and supporters are an important part of the PACE Canada community providing financial assistance and support to over 500 of these kindergarten schools since our organization was founded in 1987. However, this pandemic requires financial support from a broader base of individuals and organizations who have an interest in ensuring the continued success of the education of our children in Jamaica.
PACE continues to work in partnership with the Jamaica Ministry of Education, Early Childhood Commission (ECC) to identify critical needs and the schools, mostly in rural areas, urgently in need of your support. The ECC has now advised that schools will need to acquire the following items as a minimum to meet requirements for opening. While each school will need different quantities they estimate that each school’s cost will be around C$1,500. These items include:
Disposable or reusable face masks
Sanitizer and soaps
Portable hand washing sinks
Social distance markers
Please support this special and urgent COVID-19 Back to School fundraiser today and 100% of your donations will be eligible for a donation tax receipt. Every dollar counts no matter how small.
As we say in Jamaica “Every Mickle Mek a Muckle”.
We are all united against the COVID-19 global threat and now focused on ensuring the safety and security of our children returning to school. Let’s continue “Helping Young Children Succeed”.
Thank you for your support!
President, P.A.C.E. (Canada)
